Perspectives

It's interesting to get a different perspective by moving here and experiencing a school that is so much bigger than my high school. I knew that my high school was small, but it's amazing to see just how secluded it was. I think it’s really important to move away sometime during life so that you see a bigger variety of people and get a better sense of where you fit in society. This experience has already been humbling. I was one of the smartest and most athletic people in my little hometown, but here I’m neither of those things. The best thing I have going for me at the moment is knowing how to work hard and being willing to do so. I guess the most important thing I learned from high school was how to prioritize my time and focus on something until I get it done even if there are distractions.

More on Teacher Recs….

Often students are curious about whether they can or should submit additional recommendations. I tend to advice students that they should only get additional recommendations if they think that the additional writer will provide information and a perspective on you that no one else will.

Otherwise, extra recommendations tend to be repetitive and don't end up adding much to the overall application. Repetitive, excessive recommendations also tend to make admissions officer's eyes roll…

Never a good thing.
