Post exam fun – the end is where the fun is at

Finally!

The oh-so-annoying string of exams came to a merciful end yesterday. I’m ecstatic. The minute the exams end and the gates of our school open, my head conjures up a compelling symphony which works perfectly with the scene. As herd of overjoyed twelfth graders take the slow march out, mafficking slowly erupts with hundreds of excited noises and sighs of relief. This moment is the culmination of weeks of mental toil, and confinement of our imaginations; now it is finally set free. What now? It’s time to partay!

Goodbye FAFSA, Hello $4,000

Tuesday, January 20 marked the most anticipated historic event that any American teen has ever witnessed. President Barack Obama’s effect on the youth of America has caused teens everywhere to maffick like never before. However, there have been many to question what difference Obama could really make in their lives. How does $4,000 and the elimination of the FAFSA form sound? Prospective college students sure will have an increased approval of Obama when they discover the changes he will make in the collegiate system.

Lessons Learned from the Military Kid: People ‘n’ Places

(Psst! Just a teensy disclaimer – I, of course, don’t speak for every kid who’s ever lived abroad as a Navy/Marine/Army/Air Force Brat. The majority of my writings on this topic are, natrually, my experiences and the experiences of everyone I know. Perhaps the experience is different elsewhere. I still think the morals of my stories apply, though. ;])

When an MK (Military Kid) tries to explain their situation to people in the United States, it never goes too well.

“Oh yeah, I live in Italy. Yeah. On an island. Yeah. Little island. It’s pretty cool, yeah. Well, I mean, we’ve got one store and one grocery store. We’ve got less than two hundred kids at our school. What? No. They’re all American. Yeah. I live with other normal Americans. No, we don’t go to school on Saturday. Oh dang, is that the time? I, um, have to pick up Cheez Whiz for my mom at the store. Later.”

Huh ha hoh ha

first post. start out big. lets do this.

Title : why do cuts only hurt when you look at them?

I was thinking ‘bout some stuff recently. I was pondering to myself why is it that everything that spawns from something else tends to be the antithesis? That’s a real bad sentence so allow me to meander through a meadow with yo minds. What I’m saying is pretty much, why are we always trying to be different from what came before us? The 50’s were conservative and stuffy the 60’s were all about doing whatever you wanted. Why is it like that? Why always a departure? Why do we strive to be different? (for the most part, there’s always someone who doesn’t. I know, I know. chill, man)

Sunshine sunshine, feel it in my skin, warmin’ up my mind

There is a creeping sense of optimism in the air these days: Obama’s presidency is cutting sharply through the stockpiled cynicism of the last eight years (No gag rule! Closing Guantanamo! Jonas Brothers in the White House!); TI and Rihanna’s ear-worm sampling, Carpe Diem promoting single “Live Your Life” is constantly on the radio; and there’s another feel-good story about an “Ordinary American turned hero” that has everyone feeling warm and fuzzy. I’m half expecting Robin Williams to start jumping around telling me to suck the marrow out of life. In honor of this strange sense of positivity swirling around us, here are my favorite “seize the day” songs: (more…)
