Here are our lucky Chegg $500 Textbook scholarships:
For the Class of 2013, Alzen Santos and Dean Niven. For the Upperclassmen Scholarship, Nancy Tang, a 2012 graduate.
Here is a little something on them.
“I was given the name Alzen because of my godmothers. They helped with the delivery and I was named after them. I am very interested in chemistry and mathematics. I enjoy watching movies, reading books, and creating art pieces. I am very honest, aware, and studious even though sometimes I go a bit overboard with the studying. I have an odd fascination of bugs and water. I tend to imagine myself converting water into thin ice. I enjoy the company of my friends and family especially my brother since we are polar opposites of one another and it makes our conversations more interesting.”
“Life is all about living your passion. For me it was soccer. I did not make it at the college level after try outs. I had to step back and decide where do I go now in life? My other passions are helping others, history, and the military. So I decided to do all these. I’m a freshmen at Arizona State, Major Psychology. ROTC cadet, Sun Devil Battalion, first year, and Army Reserve on delayed entry. I never stop setting goals and accomplishing them. I plan to use my degree in Psychology to help those who can not afford counseling.”
“I am an average everyday girl that is also very versatile. I love most things and I love to do many things also. I am very open to new things and ideas while also loving completely opposite things. I think I am a really hard working person and I really try to strive for the best for myself. Sometimes I may be down or I may be going through some troubles, but I always try to see the best of things and I try to improve. I love to have fun but I also know where my priorities lie. I wish to do many things in life and I want to be really successful. I want to be the best person I can be.”
Congratulation to our winners and big thanks to our sponsor, Chegg.com, who is bringing all students a great way to save on textbooks.

Hi i don’t know much about zinch but i filled out so many scholarships through zinch and fast web and didn’t get any! What did i do wrong ? My schooling is costing so much and my parents both work in the rv industry so money is tight, i will be able to go to school this year but probable not next year. What things can i do different in order to get scholarships?
Thanks
@brittany
Here are a few Zinch scholarship tips…
1. Include a picture. We always get tons of awesome applicants and part of the whole mantra here at Zinch is to use your profile to showcase the real you. We want to showcase the winner in the blog, on the site, and in newsletters, etc., and you make it hard for us to show you off to the world if you don’t include a picture.
2. Typos can kill you. When you have several great students and a couple have spelled everything correctly and some haven’t, it is always easier to go with the one who spelled everything right. Not that that is a hard rule, but you don’t want to give us any excuses to DQ you.
3. Passion is appreciated. When you can tell that someone is really passionate about something and that they have worked hard to be the best they can for that cause, it really goes a long way.
… I have more tips to come, but will save them for a real post or a page on the Zinch site. Thanks to all applicants–you guys make the process of choosing a winner a difficult task. There are always scholarships open on Zinch, so if you didn’t win this one, apply for the next and hopefully it is you we are highlighting in the next blog posts as our newest winner.
Also, big thanks to Chegg for sponsoring this scholarships and making it possible to do a few more scholarships. Each scholarship makes a difference for someone and we will continue to bring you as many great scholarships as we can!
Congratulations to winners!!
Also, thank you David for the advice! As I prepare to leave for my first year of college, I am going to need more money for the years to come, which of course means applying for more scholarships! Your advice will come in handy! Thanks again!
I always fill out scholarships on this site and others but have nothing to show for it. It has been several years later and im tired of going nowhere fast. In this state of the economy money is tight and im desperate now that im starting college. Why cant us average joes and janes ever get anything in life!
Congrats!!! I happy for you. =) Textbook money WHOO! one less thing to worry about.
@brittany lowe: Hey is this brittany from waco, tx

@Rodey Jacobs
You need to use your public profile URL to allow me to see your profile. The link you gave me is the same for everyone and only works for you when you are logged in. Your public URL will be zinch.com/student/yourusername if you are in high school, or zinch.com/z/yourusername if you are in college.
At this age of academic enlightenment, I am accepting the challenge of embarking in the pursuit of an undergraduate degree in education, which will provide me with the preparation necessary to fulfill my aspiration to become an elementary education teacher and to be the best in my profession. I choose to become an early education teacher because this is where my interest lies. I am accepting this challenge because it will provide me with the opportunity to fulfill my career objectives.
As indicated in the introduction, my life has evolved in an “up and down” process. There were many hurdles in my path that could have prevented me from graduating high school. My ability to overcome my challenges had helped me from succumbing to failure. I have always categorized myself as an achiever. I also discover that I was a visionary who was not afraid to dream big dreams and make them become reality.
It is my view that people who succeed must have perseverance and patience; and the ability to fit in a system. They must have the ability to work with others and show a great deal of determination. What I am saying is that hard work and perseverance are key factors in achieving objectives.
Hello David,
I am in the same place as Rodey, would you please be able to look at my profile and tell me if it needs any kind of improvements. My url is http://www.zinch.com/z/eaviles
