Nielsen just released it statistics on game usage and found that June was up 21 percent in the time spent playing video games when in contrast consumer spending on games dropped 31 percent. The average console was used 768 minutes in the month of June.
So if people aren’t buying and are just playing, what are they playing on? Well Nielsen said that Xbox 360 and Playstation 2 were tied up for status of most used with the Wii only slightly trailing. The Wii clearly came out the winner for attracting the most females and males being more attracted to Xbox 360. Nielsen also found that more than half of total usage was claimed to be by those aged 18 and under.
