A Better World Zinch Health Scholarship Winner Spotlight: Reymark Renigen
This is Reymark, the winner of the A Better World Zinch Health Scholarship! He is passionate about becoming a doctor to be able to help people, especially children:
Where did you hear about Zinch and the “A Better World Zinch Health Scholarship”?
I learned about Zinch from a program I am in called the I Have a Dream Program, which I have been a part of for 8 years now. I did not hear from anyone about the Zinch Health Scholarship but I searched for it on my own and I found it through the search scholarships in Zinch.
What was your reaction when you found out that you had won the “A Better World Zinch Health Scholarship?”
My reaction when I received the scholarship was shocking. I couldn’t believe that I had won it because a lot of people applied for it also. I was proud of myself when I had won it also because I’ve been applying for scholarships and this is one of the first I have won.
What was your parents reaction?
My parents reaction to me winning the scholarship was exciting. They were so proud of me winning the scholarship because they knew this would help me in college.
What college do you want to go to and why?
My number one choice college that I want to go to is St. Mary’s College. I want to go to this college because it is a small college, it offers my major that I want to obtain, it is located near my home, it really supports students in need of financial aid, and offers a lot of activities and programs for student life.
How are you going to make the world a better world?
I am going to make the world a better place by pursuing my dream to become a doctor. This will help better the world because I truly want to help people, especially children. I have had opportunities to intern at hospitals and clinics and I have enjoyed every moment working there. Being a doctor, I want to truly connect and bond with people and truly get to help them with anything.
How are you more than a test score?
I am more than a test score because during my first two years of high school I struggled. I struggled because I had always gone to public schools and had never had the motivation to succeed and it was hard for me to adjust at first. During my Junior year, I was truly supported from a program I am in called Boys Hope Girls Hope and I Have a Dream. They helped me by providing me with tutors who truly want me to succeed and provided activities and study sessions to help my work ethics. Progressively my GPA has increased and I am able to balance out tennis with school.
