The March to $20,000 Begins Today
Zinch’s annual March Madnezz ‘Sweet Diggity Dawg’ $20,000 Scholarship is back.
We have some new and exciting plans in store for this year’s contest. For starters, we are kicking it off with a showcase of your best Talent Show items. It will also run on a tighter schedule — with each round of the bracket lasting only a few days.
If you didn’t qualify, there’s always next year.
For this year’s participants, here’s what you need to know…
This preliminary round will cut it down to 2,500 students.
To be in that group, you’ll need to:
1. Upload Talent Show item(s). Or you can use the Talent Show items you have already uploaded.
2. Link it in the comment section of this page.
Your talent could be a video, art work, writing, or just about anything that shows off your mad skillz, and lets us know you better.
To upload your item, go to: Edit Profile> Z-Folio> Add image/video/etc.
To get to the page for your specific Talent Show item, go to: Talent Show page> My Talent Show Page > Click on your item. Copy the URL, and paste it in the comment section here, with a brief description.
Tips on getting noticed:
Spread the word through Facebook, Twitter, Digg, and elsewhere to build up unique views and a high rating. The more popular your talent, the better your chance of advancing.
The deadline for this preliminary round is February 14th — so get posting and let everyone know about it! Winners will be posted on Febuary 18th by email and here on the blog.

This is all the art work i have on my computer. I drew up the koi fish because I was going to have a baby but she died. I am still planning on getting the tattoo so I have a memoir of her. Her name is Sarah Beth Marie Lee. I have a couple of pictures on there that I took during my photo class. I took the flowers near the beginning of the school year and I took the one on the stream during the fall, near the end of the semester. The bike was a drawing that I drew and shaded. The drawing itself took a few days. The shading took me longer than the line drawing. I would like to get this scholarship because it will pay for art school for me. That is what I want to go into, Drawing and Photography. Maybe graphic design but I dont like that that much. The photo labeled Frame my Future is a photo I put together in photoshop showing where I would like to go in life.

An underlying theme in my IB Art works is found objects. In this vid, I am constructing a cookie tin guitar from found objects only. It is an off-shoot of the cigar box guitar. During the Great Depression, the cigar box guitar was iconic of music’s immortality. I admired that ability of music and translated it into my ability to construct an instrument with common refuse with the tools I already had. With this scholarship, I will be able to pursue art in order to aid its expansion.

One of my newest compositions and one of my favorites, this piece really brings out the excitement of improv. I follow many of the same patterns but change them randomly to make the piece expand and retract to make it more interesting and enjoyable for both myself and the listener. This is another composition of mine but at a much simpler level. Despite its simplicity, I feel it portrays serenity and beauty like no other piece I have written. Social Criticism
Recession Recession they called years ago, arresting all our hearts and throwing us in a prision of fear.
Mothers and Fathers holding their children so Dear, no one worried about the color of the other or how much material things they had.
Newscasters coming day by day like clock work reporting the bad news.
No money been made means no available jobs, So we’re all doing bad. The rate of Homeless people increasing like a deathly fever to the hight of Mt. Everst.
Hallelujah!! Some say to with the election of a Black President who’s going to make a change.
His ideas are great, accepted by all. Guess this time we’ve got our hands on the ball. Though we’re praying to GOD that not again we fall.
Seems like now our prision sentence is almost to an end, Allowing us to see light at the other end of the tunnel.
Newscaster’s economic attacks are over. Back to reporting the regular deaths, robberies, and now Haiti’s destruction.
Deep down i wonder when will we ever be safe again. The entire government in debt and people we’ve elected being fired for stealing our money. I had high hopes for my so near future, though it’s money that makes the world go round.
And with a falling economy we’re all headed towards the ground. Two wars we’re fighting, They never seem to cease, Will we ever beat this beast.

This is a computer graphics project I did in school entitled: Traced on a Beach. I took a picture of myself in front of a window, uploaded it onto the computer, traced everything on Adobe Illustrator, and then created my own background. It took about 10, 45 minute class periods. A+

This is my squad, varsity cheer, at a competition! We worked for months, and were heartbroken a week before competition because, one of our main flyers broke her foot. Luckily, a JV girl stepped in, we practiced hard for 10 hours! In our first competition, we got 2nd place, and a week later we beat last years previous national champs, while receiving first!

This is me long snapping at Kohl’s Kicking camp at the University of Pitt. This past Friday i went to a football camp at Ohio Dominican university where all the coaches have connections to the NFL. One being a former NFL player himself. Both him and the head coach said I have the potential to make it pro. Not only to i want to further my football career, i also wish to become a biology/chemistry major and study Pre-Dentistry at Case Western Reserve. Money has been a major issue for me and this would help tremendously. I am the oldest of 4 kids, and i am the first one in my entire family to get accepted to a 4 year college. If i get this scholarship, i can show my siblings that if they put their mind to it, anything is possible

i have uploads of my paintings and some poems also..lord knows i need every pennny i can get tryin to attend out of state colleges…i refuse to stay discouraged because my parents cant afford to send me these schools.but i sincerely hope that i am considered for this scholarship and giving a chance to go all the way. its been 4 rough years of high school, and i would love for things to get brighter before i set foot in college…this scholarship will do that for me.

I draw and have been working on more computer based art as well. I wish I could upload my other art-works but I am hard pressed to find scanners. I have been on my high school varsity dive team all 4 years. This is just a practice and someone happened to have filmed me. Check out the front 1-1/2 SS.
This is part of my job to build huge bonfires. It took us over 2 hours to gather enough wood and put it up into a neat tee-pee design. It was over 12 feet high.
Watch the Bonfire burn so bright. I was so hot and we even stood over 10 feet in front of it. No one got close to it.
