Run the World Scholarship Winner: Serina Santiago

Serina Santiago Congratulations to Serina Santiago, winner of the Run the World Scholarship!

Living an active lifestyle is not only healthy, but it’s fun too. She’s the First thought the same thing and sweetened the deal by rewarding that lifestyle and giving an active person a scholarship.

But being active wasn’t the only thing one lucky student had to do in order to win a scholarship. We wanted to know what motivates you to run that extra mile. Serina got us motivated with her response.

What makes me run the extra mile is the fact that I haven’t hit a dead end yet. Running that extra mile not only pushes myself to do better but my peers as well. Seeing what you can accomplish and stopping before you even get the chance to really make a change is a waste of time. The real question is why not run the extra mile? What do you really have to lose?

We always want to know what makes you more than a test score, so we got to know Serina a little bit better. Here’s what she had to say.

What is your strategy behind applying for scholarships?

My main strategy for searching and applying for scholarships consists of using every available outlet presented to me, such as my counselors and college aid websites that would lead me to sites such as Zinch, as well as many others. While applying for scholarships I kept in mind that nothing is impossible, and while that may seem a bit cliche, it’s true.

What excites you the most about college?

What excites me most about college is knowing that it will most likely be the best part of my life so far. College is a time for discovering who you are and making connections with the world around you and that is also what excites me about attending college this upcoming fall.

How are you more than a test score?

I believe that I am more than a test score because a single test cannot define everything you’ve learned on a single subject. We learn many things while in a classroom and some of those things don’t recollect in our minds as well as others. That being said, the way we participate in a classroom over a period of time says who we are, not a test taken in one day.

Zinch has tons of scholarships for high school and college students. Log on today and visit our scholarship search to get the financial aid hook up.
